Remote fitting support for custom wedding dress orders

Remote fitting support is handled as a measurement review process for brides ordering a custom wedding dress from abroad. Vi reviews the brief, measurements, fit concerns, and design direction before fabric is cut.

This page explains the checkpoints, bride responsibilities, and fit limits upfront. Read fit limits

Before measuring

What to prepare first

Remote fitting review works best after Vi understands the dress, timeline, shipping plan, and main fit concerns.

  • Wedding date & delivery city and country

Share your wedding date or target delivery month, plus the delivery city and country where the dress must arrive.

  • Dress brief or inspiration

Send reference images, links, silhouette notes, fabric direction, and any detail you care about most.

  • Fit concerns

Tell us about support needs, body areas you are nervous about, comfort limits, and planned undergarments.

  • Height & shoe plan

Height, heel height, and ceremony shoe plan help Vi review hem length, proportion, and train behaviour.

The system

Remote fitting support before production

Five checkpoints connect your first brief, measurements, production, final QC, and dispatch.

Why review matters

A size chart is not enough for custom wedding dress fit

Bust, waist, and hip alone do not describe how a bridal gown will sit. Shoulder width, torso length, armhole, posture, heel height, and silhouette all affect construction.

When a bride cannot visit the atelier, the process needs clear checkpoints before production continues.

  1. 01

    Consultation before measurements

Vi reviews inspiration, silhouette, wedding date, delivery city and country, heel height, comfort needs, and fit concerns.

  2. 02

    Guided measurement checklist

You receive clear instructions for the points your gown needs, with support if a step is unclear.

  3. 03

    Designer measurement review

Vi checks inconsistent numbers and asks for rechecks before fabric is cut.

  4. 04

    Production checkpoints

Progress photos or video are shared where useful, depending on design complexity.

  5. 05

    Final QC before dispatch

You receive final QC photos or video for review before final balance and dispatch.

Measurement guide

Measurement points Vi may review

The illustration shows the main areas that may be reviewed for a custom wedding dress.

Vi confirms which measurements your specific dress needs after consultation.

Bust & Bodice

Bust, chest width, shoulder width, front bodice length, back length, back width, and neckline.

Waist & Hips

Natural waist, high hip, full hip, and waist-to-hip distance.

Arms & Length

Sleeve length, armscye, upper arm, and side length.

Optional

Inseam and thigh measurements are only needed for bridal pants, jumpsuits, or designs with special leg-fit requirements.

You receive a guided checklist. Vi reviews your numbers before production, so you do not need tailoring vocabulary to start.

Do not pull the tape too tight or measure over thick clothing.

  • What to wear

Thin, close-fitting clothing and the bra or undergarment you plan to wear with the gown. Avoid thick layers unless they are part of your wedding look.

  • Unsure about technique?

Send a short WhatsApp video or voice note so we can see how the tape is positioned.

Before we cut

Measurement details checked before cutting

Small mistakes are normal remotely. Review is built to catch common issues before they affect the gown.

  • Tape pulled too tight around the waist

    Leave enough room to breathe.

  • Bust measured with the wrong bra

Wear the closest match to your wedding undergarment.

  • Hollow-to-floor taken without wedding shoes

Heel height changes hem length significantly.

  • Shoulder width measured too wide or narrow

Follow the natural shoulder seam line.

  • Hip measured at the wrong point

Full hip is the widest point, usually 7–9 inches below natural waist.

  • Sleeve length taken with a locked arm

Measure with the arm slightly relaxed.

If something looks unusual, Vi asks for a recheck before production continues.

Design tools

Design choices that can reduce fit risk

Vi may recommend features that make a remote order more adjustable. These are tools, not defaults, and not every option suits every gown.

Corset back

Small bodice and waist adjustments when exact waist is hard to confirm remotely.

Inner waist stay

Anchors the gown without relying only on the outer structure.

Structured bodice

Supports strapless, low-back, or backless designs where the bodice carries the load.

Adjustable straps

Shoulder balance when shoulder-to-bust measurements are uncertain.

Built-in seam allowance

Room for a local tailor to make small post-delivery adjustments.

Detachable sleeves or overskirt

Separates complex shoulder work from the core bodice fit.

Honest limits

Fit limits are explained upfront

Remote custom work can be precise and documented. Bridal fit is personal, so small local alterations may still be the final step after delivery.

Before dispatch

Final QC before dispatch

The finished gown is documented and shared with you for review before final balance and dispatch.

Common questions

Remote fitting FAQs

Can you make my dress if I cannot visit the atelier?

Yes. Most international brides begin remotely: consultation, guided measurements, production updates where useful, and final QC before final balance and dispatch. Highly complex builds may need extra checkpoints; Vi flags that early.

When do I send measurements?

After consultation, once Vi understands your dress direction, delivery city and country, wedding timeline, and fit concerns. We confirm which measurements your gown needs before production continues.

What if I measure myself incorrectly?

We review your measurements before production. If something looks inconsistent, we ask you to recheck before fabric is cut.

Do I need someone to help me measure?

We strongly recommend it. Bridal measurements are more accurate when you stand naturally and someone else holds the tape, especially across the back.

Will I still need local alterations?

Possibly. Remote fitting support, measurement review, and QC reduce fit risk, but small local alterations are normal when you cannot attend fittings. Vi designs with that in mind and explains the risk upfront.

Can you guarantee a perfect fit?

No. Remote fitting support reduces fit risk through measurement review, but it cannot replace in-person fitting rounds or guarantee that no local alterations will be needed. Fit limits .
