No payment to inquire, Written quote first, QC before final balance

Founder guide - proof before payment

What proof should I see before paying for a custom wedding dress?

A remote custom wedding dress order is safer when each payment has a matching record: a written quote before deposit, and final QC photos or video before the final balance.

VI Dressmakers atelier workspace where final QC is reviewed before a custom wedding dress payment

Vi's note

Written by Vi Updated

A custom wedding dress deposit should follow a written quote. The final balance should follow QC photos or video. No payment is required to inquire.

The question I want a bride to ask is not only whether a Vietnam atelier can sew the dress. It is which proof arrives before each payment.

At VI Dressmakers, the production deposit is requested only after the dress direction is confirmed in writing. For a shipped order, final QC photos or video are shared before the final balance. You should see the finished gown on the stand before payment is requested for dispatch.

Public cases on this site are the proof I can show without private invoices, addresses, or tracking numbers. Use them to see the kind of record a remote order should have.

Payment should follow a written record. Inquiry is free. Deposit follows the quote. Final balance follows QC.

Before deposit

What should be written before a production deposit?

No payment is required to inquire. Send the wedding date, delivery city and country, dress references, and the fit points that matter. Vi reviews whether the direction is realistic before a quote.

A production deposit should come only after a written quote. That quote should name the design direction, what is included, the payment milestones, and the official payment instructions. If a payment request does not match the quote, ask VI Dressmakers to confirm it before paying.

Bianca and Simone both read the policy before ordering. That is the trust step I want: the bride understands the written terms before the deposit, including that a production deposit is non-refundable once payment has been received if she later cancels for reasons not caused by VI Dressmakers. The full wording is on the trust and policies page.

  • Quote before deposit

Scope, milestones, amount, currency, and the official channel should match the written quote.

  • Measurements before cutting

Fabric is not cut until measurements are confirmed by WhatsApp video, a local tailor, or a Ho Chi Minh City studio appointment.

  • Inspiration is not the gown

Reference photos explain direction. Captions on case pages say when an image is inspiration, not the finished dress.

  • Official channel only

Payment instructions should come from [email protected] or the official WhatsApp number after the quote.

The first record is the brief, not a payment. Kathleen's Australia order started from a lace mermaid reference.

Before final balance

What QC proof should I see before the final balance?

For a shipped order, final QC photos or video are shared before the final balance. The point is to see the finished gown on the stand: front, back, closure, lining or coverage, train, and the details that were agreed.

The exact set depends on the dress. Kathleen’s lace mermaid needed a remote coverage review because the reference was sheer and she wanted a white, covered gown. Franziska’s Alencon mermaid needed cup, neckline, back, and train checks before it left for Germany. A plain taffeta ballgown does not need the same lace proof.

A parcel photo, a redacted tracking page, or a try-on after delivery is a later record. It does not replace QC before the final balance. If the QC does not match the written direction, say so before paying for dispatch.

Public proof

Which orders show proof before payment?

These are published orders, not a promise that every future shipment will match their dates. They show the kind of record a bride can ask to see.

Guide questions

Questions brides ask about proof before payment

Is it safe to pay a custom wedding dress deposit?

It is safer when the deposit follows a written quote that matches the dress direction, milestones, amount, and official payment channel. At VI Dressmakers, no payment is required to inquire, and no production deposit is requested before that written quote.

Deposit terms, including when a production deposit is non-refundable, are on the trust and policies page. Read them before paying.

Should I pay the final balance before I see the dress?

For a shipped VI Dressmakers order, no. Final QC photos or video are shared before the final balance. You review the finished gown before payment is requested for dispatch.

If you collect in Ho Chi Minh City, final payment is settled at collection after you can try the dress on by appointment.

What if the QC photos do not match the written quote?

Say so before paying the final balance. The QC record should be checked against the agreed silhouette, fabric direction, coverage, and details. Do not treat a parcel photo as a substitute for seeing the gown.

Do public cases show payment receipts?

No. Public cases keep invoices, addresses, barcodes, and tracking numbers off the page. They show the kind of proof that can be published: inspiration versus finished gown, QC photos or video, and redacted delivery or pickup context.
